Artistic and Creative
The imaginative use of, colour, pattern, texture, light and space is central to an interior designer’s practice. It isn’t just about home decoration. They need to create designs that are functional, beautiful to look at and increase the occupants’ quality of life. Creativity is important because very often they faced budget constraints, regulatory requirements, cultural boundaries and the limitation of physical location.

Technical Knowledge
They also need good drawing skills to present their ideas to their clients. Knowledge of materials, colours and lighting are very important to create the right atmosphere. An effective interior designer also needs to have knowledge on green technology, building codes and health and safety issues.

Communications and Management Skills
Interior designers need to be good communicators as they meet all types of client and often work in groups – architects, contractors and other service providers in the process of delivering what the clients want. They need to be able to solve problems and get the projects done on time and within budget. They need to do all at the same time maintain good client relationship.
